Oklahoma governor signs bill to allow veterans to carry handguns :: 04/07/2017
Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin signed a bill Thursday that will allow people as young as 18 who have served in the military to obtain a handgun license, according to the Associated Press.
The legislation — House Bill 1428, also known as the Handgun Carry Military Age Exemption Act — was one of 11 bills that Fallin signed Thursday.
The measure will change the existing law which required individuals to be at least 21 years old to obtain a handgun license in the state of Oklahoma.
Other pro-gun bills — such as House Bill 1104, which would allow elected officials to carry guns into courthouses — are still being considered in the Oklahoma Legislature.
