New Orleans Police Department say a homeowner fatally shot and killed an intruder at a Dauphine Street residence Thursday evening,
The homeowner reportedly heard someone banging on the door of the residence and approached with a gun.
After opening the door, police say an unidentified male lunged at the homeowner, who then shot the man.
The intruder died at the scene.
