Kentucky Self-Defense: Fearing For Her Life, Woman Shoots Estranged Husband :: 04/12/2016
A man with an active domestic violence order against him was shot and killed Monday by his estranged wife.
Police confirmed Pamela Smith called authorities after she shot her estranged husband Terry Briggs, 37, when he entered her home in Phelps, KY. Smith says Briggs gained access to her home without her consent and threatened her.
That’s when she grabbed her handgun and shot him.
According to court documents, Briggs was charged with assault in March after he hit his girlfriend in the face and choked her. It is unclear whether or not Smith was the women he assaulted in that incident.
While no charges have been filed at this time, police will send all evidence to a grand jury for review.
